Dorm Honors Program

Living Happier, Healthier, and More Successful Lives

The Dorm Honors Program supports 11th and 12th grade dormers to live out the mission of the Residential Life Program and internalize its six learning goals. Students enrolled in the Dorm Honors Program engage with a cutting-edge curriculum, developed in consultation with the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania and Challenge Success at Stanford University. During evening classes taught by the Dean of Residential Life, dormers explore the skills needed to live happier, healthier, and more successful lives right now.

Conventional wisdom holds that "you can't manage what you don't measure." As such, enrollees in the Dorm Honors Program are tasked with measuring their physical and psychological wellbeing. Participants are outfitted with Fitbit Inspire HR wristbands so that they can quantify their cardiovascular exertion and REM sleep each day. These devices provide students the opportunity to self-assess two critical dimensions of their physical health in an efficient, precise, and unbiased fashion. Dorm Honors enrollees also closely monitor their psychological wellbeing through daily psychometric surveys, nightly introspective activities, and regular conversations with members of the Priory's Counseling Department.

Dorm Honors students develop a personalized, mental-health toolkit by experimenting with various positive interventions and determining what works best for them. The Dorm Honors curriculum challenges students to break bad habits, override unhealthy cultural cues, and take an honest look at how their choices affect their wellbeing. These practices best align our students to carry out Priory’s school mission of assisting students to live balanced and meaningful lives.
